These beautiful little catfish come from Brazil and Bolivia. They are a member of the Corydoras family of catfish which means that they are related to the more commonl;y seen Bronze and Peppered Catfish. They are a bottom feeding fish and are extremely peaceful with other fish in the aquarium. They prefer company of their own species so should be purchased in groups of at least four.
Sterbai Catfish, like most Cory’s appreciate bogwood or other similar décor in the aquarium and can often be seen grazing on the sides of the tank and ornaments. The bulk of their diet should be small sinking pellets and livefoods like bloodworm and daphnia. It is important to use sinking foods as these small catfish may miss out to more boisterous tank mates at feeding time if only flake is used.
These fishes will make Ideal tank mates for all peaceful small to medium sized fish. They prefer a tank with some live plants and are often spotted “playing” in small groups.
